Darim Introduces MV410EXP H.264 and Windows Media 9 Hardware Decoder
Darim Vision’s Hardware Decoder Offers Outstanding Quality and Flexibility
for Today’s Internet Streaming Environment Pleasanton, Calif. - September 9, 2004 - Darim Vision Corp. (www.darim.com), a leading provider of integrated MPEG Encoding, Streaming, Broadcasting, and Security Solutions, announced today it will demonstrate a hardware a combination H.264 and Windows Media 9® decoder at the upcoming IBC Exhibition this September 10, 2004 in booth 8.321 Hall 8. The MV410EXP™ decoder is offered as a companion product to its MV401EXP™ encoder. Both products are designed to work in both H.264 or Windows Media 9 formats for greater flexibility. The MV410EXP decoder accepts either H.264 or Windows Media 9 format compressed video and audio and converts it to either analog or digital output at the user’s option in either NTSC or PAL video standards. Based on embedded system technology, the MV410EXP decoder can take in H.264 or Windows Media 9 video and audio from a source such as a satellite feed and produce fully integrated video and audio. This in turn can be played back with perfect sync no matter how long the video file. It easily works with video in any resolution including full D1 at 30 fps.
Encased in a 1U rack-mountable unit, the MV410EXP is a standalone unit that can be controlled via either its one gigabit Ethernet or 100 megabit connectors over a network including the internet if desired. All playback settings can be made remotely including frame rate. It is recommended to use the one gigabit connection for playback and the 100 megabit connector for the IBMI hardware control interface. MV410EXP has several built-in reliability features to aide unattended playback operation. With no hard drive and the use of flash memory, there are few moving parts with the potential for failure during playback. IPMI hardware management technology will monitor the unit’s temperature and other parameters that can affect the system’s performance. A Watchdog feature is also included to constantly check for error conditions such as a power failure. When such an error condition is encountered, the system will reboot itself and continue playback based on the last saved settings. The MV410EXP decoder has both digital and analog output. The analog video output connectors including component, S-video and composite along with balanced analog audio. Digital video utilizes a SDI out connector and for digital audio AES/EBU connectors are available. "With the introduction of the MV410EXP decoder, we can now offer our customers a complete H.264 and Windows Media 9 playback solution at very competitive pricing." said John Houston, vice-president of marketing for Darim. "By utilizing a hardware decoder, users can be assured of consistent playback quality.” Through its one gigabit network connection, the MV410EXP decoder can playback video and audio streamed over the internet or from a satellite. It provides the highest quality decoding possible for a fraction of the cost of competing decoders. An optional RS-232 port provides a connection to an emergency recover console for added dependability when reliable performance is of utmost importance.
