A small box as it appears, NetGator consolidates the latest achievements in video and audio compression, network communication and web technologies together in one unbeatable combination. NetGator is a small standalone box that does not require a PC to operate - just a connection to a camera and Ethernet network. Its internal RISC CPU is running a real time Unix-like operating system to provide NetGator with capabilities of a full-featured multimedia contents streaming server.

NetGator uses the TCP/IP protocol to communicate with other computers over a network and can be configured either to use a static IP address or to obtain an IP address automatically from a DHCP server, if available. The onboard memory storage and web server software allow NetGator to store a compact-size web site inside and enable users to access it remotely using regular web browsers. The contents of the web site can be easily customized by the end user and uploaded to NetGator using the TFTP protocol.

When it comes to the actual multimedia contents delivery, NetGator can provide users with live video and audio compressed in MPEG1 format or high-quality still JPEG images with adjustable resolution, quality and refresh rate. Still images in JPEG format can be delivered to remote clients over the Internet using a regular web-browser program, which is readily available on any desktop. For intranet applications, NetGator can be used to transmit live video and audio in multicasting mode to be received by as many viewers on the network as needed (clients should have MxTV client software installed).

NetGator combines an intuitive, easy-to-use interface with a complete set of advanced programmable features to achieve the best possible results. Live MPEG1 video/audio streaming over networks, corporate video conferencing, remote monitoring and surveillance are but a few examples of NetGator's possible application.
